Hi. I have one juvenile oscar in a 125 gallon tank. I started with 2 juvenile oscars (both about 3 to 4 inches) but had to trade one in because he was beating up the one I kept. I am wondering if it would be wise to try other tank mates with the remaining oscar or if I should keep him alone. I have thought about adding a sun cat, chocolate cichlid, blue acara, severum, or a Trinidad or Sailfin pleco, or bichir. I am not saying I would add all of these. Only one additional fish or maybe two additional (i. e. a bottom feeder and another fish if I did add two). I am looking for something that won't beat up my oscar or be beat up by him and that won't get eaten or eat the oscar. What is your opinion? Thanks.

Excellent choices, you've done your research it sounds like.
I've got an Eartheater Cichlid in with one of my Oscars (125 g), another Oscar has a Severum in his tank (125 g), the other Oscar has a Chocolate Cichlid and 6 Silver Dollars (250 g) and the other 2 Oscars have each other (125 g). The only thing I wouldn't do if I were you would be the Plec. Man, they're messy. You'd have room though if you wanted the Plec real bad.

Jack dempsey. yeah man yeeaaahh
A Jack Dempsey would more than likely beat the fins off her Oscar. Oscars aren't 'aggressive' so much as territorial. When they're put up against a 'tough' fish like a JD, Texas or Green Terror they usually get beat up.
Oscars like to be 'kings of their castles' and that's the way I like to let them live.

I agree sometimes you do get lucky, sounds like you did. I had a male Texas in with my little Veiltail Oscar and the Oscar bossed him like crazy. I really regret not keeping him now, still mad at myself for giving him up. More often than not that's a combo that sucks for the Oscar though.

If you want a bottom feeder, how about a synodontis? They do well with my CA/SA's. They do a great job of cleaning up uneaten food and they don't leave 8' long strings of poop like plecos.

sev's are good choices, as with jd's and chocolates. also silver dollars. i would go with a jd and a few dollars.. but thats just me.. and like another person suggested a syno cat would be a great bottom dweller!
