I went to walmart to get some glue and stopped to see if they had a soft frisbee for my dog. Well the fish are near by there so i stopped by just to look. They have some odd ball clown loaches and i have been thinking of starting to grow a school of loaches. The problem is some already have ich spots and i am wondering if it is worth it to get a couple odd balls or if the chance they die high?

If they're not heavily dusted like snow I'd say there's a good chance they'll survive. Have a cycled quarantine tank ready to go. Just need to raise temp slowly to 88-89 degrees, LOTS of aeration (due to high temp), and salt concentration of 3% (3 tsp of aquarium safe salt per gallon). Do at least once a week water change. Keep it like that for 2 weeks after you see the last of the ich spots on the clowns disappear. That's the no meds route anyway. After that lower temp back down to 83 or 84 degrees and do a big water change to get rid of most of the salt. Any lower temp than that I've found clowns can be prone to getting ich.

I agree with evabug with everything how to rid the ich on clowns. Exactly what I have done in the past with the salt, etc.

Wish the couple of walmarts near me had cool marked loaches, heck these walmarts don't even have fish

& if you're deciding today whether to get them or not, like mentioned evaluate just how much ich they have. If theres just random spots here & there, maybe go for it. If concentrated throughout, no way. They prob won't sell the loaches (if they even know they're sick, that is)...but if they do know & willing to sell, demand a fantastic deal for saving those cool marked loaches! Make sure you still get the warranty that covers ich too!
