I went to my lfs store yesterday and saw a small fahaka puffer. It was about two inches long. I took a closer look at him and noticed he was blind in the right eye. Looked like his eye ball got taken out:(. I asked the guy who owns the store and he said he will give me the fahaka for $10. I was watching that fahaka for a few minutes and he acts normal. Should I save that puffer?:(

^ Tough call... i guess it depends on how badly its eye has been beaten up, and will it lead to some infection that could kill the puffer?

If it seems like it could be rescued and live a full life without too many problems, then its really just up to you if you want to rescue a handicapped puffer?

I have had several one-eyed fish. Made no difference in it's life.

Make sure he's eating though. Does this look like a recent injury? My guess is the eye was taken out by a scuffle with another fahaka, as suppliers don't house these killers separately. I'd add Melafix to his tank for a month, to be sure it heals well. Do you have a cycled tank ready?

No doesnt look like a recent injury. Looks like it healed. Yes I do have a cycled tank ready :) When I saw him he was chowing down on a feeder he caught. Dont worry im not going to feed him feeders. :)

Well if everything is spot on other than a missing eye, then no reason why not to give it a go if you want a Fahaka for cheap...

If he looks healthy I say go for it. My Fahaka is blind in his left eye, its pinpoint vs the right being normal size. Only time it seems to effect him is when food ends up on his left side and he has trouble finding it.
