Hi. I've just got into flowerhorns when I decided i was going CA/SA cichlids when I found about flowerhorns. I love flowerhorns because of there colour and nuchal humps but don't like it when they get this big.

So is there any way I could keep the nuchal hump smaller. But I'm really into CA/SA cichlids as well. I know flowerhorns are really aggressive and can't have tank mates but would I be able to have a pleco and red tailed shark with it? My tank is 60 gallons= 48 16 18. So which should I go for

If it was me I would go with smaller ca/sa cichlids as a 60 gallon eventually won't be big enough for a full grown flowerhorn. Flowerhorns are down right mean and you might be putting nothing with it. I did the flowerhorn thing a long time back and gave up on them pretty quick as they terrorize everything. If you want something with a hump get a group of Gymnogeophagus balzanii. The males get nice humps and they have a great personality.

Thank you for your comment. I will have a look at those balzanii

Perfectly said.

It's completely up to you. Get what you like and what YOU are gonna like looking. To me, flowerhorns are more of a wet pet and unique. They do require a whole tank to themselves, but I think they're looks and personality compensate for not stocking with a bunch of SA/CA's, but at the end of the day like I said, it's all about what you want to look at.

Might not be to your taste, but I recently purchased a small blood parrot, as they have the genetics to get big and stocky but can't do terrible damage due to the mouth.

Any I've seen that are adult size have been very quick to come to the front of the tank to either attack or just beg for food really.
