Found a pike cichlid the other day which I highly believe is a Venezuela pike cichlid. The fish is about 10" and goes for 40US$. Should I get it? If in case I get it, it will be housed in a 250gallon tank with an 84"x32" footprint. I have a few Oscars there as well asa few peacock bass all of which are over 12". Will they be okay? Are the pikes aggressive as some websites say? The very last thing I will add into my aquarium is an aggressive fish coz I got burned too many times when I buy based on impulse. I observed him in the store for about 15 minutes today and he seemed to have pushed a 7" frontosa aside. What do you guys think?

The larger pikes like vennies will definitely assert themselves. Some are just pushy, some are downright mean. A lot of it is going to depend on their individual personalities. I had 12" lents in a 210 gallon and they got to the point that they were terrorizing all of my severums. They also went after my big male psittacus but he gladly pushed back.

I think if your oscars aren't too wimpy, you should be okay.

I have a Venny, hes about 8 inches. Hes in with Severums, Meekis, tinfoil barbs and a jag. The only one he bothers is my Royal Pleco. Very strange honestly. Ive had him a little over a year and yet I havent seen any aggression towards the other cichlids. Not saying that this one you are talking about is as friendly as mine. But I figured I would throw my voice out there having experience with them.
