I have my 120 out in the living room. My big 12 inch lutino red is the center of the tank. I have him in with a 7 inch JD, and 4 inch convict right now and I really want to add my 7 inch female GT as well. The JD and the O are fine, but as I mentioned in another thread the O and GT are having issues. The O is a typical O, all talk and no action. The GT is on the milder side as GT's go. Right now the GT has sectioned off her side of the tank. When the O gets near they both flare up. They usually both bluff and return to their sides. Once in a while they "pop" lips and both scatter. No damage to either fish so far. They both seem reluctant to actually "lock up".
So my questions. Are they just establishing dominance? Can I have any reasonable expectation that the GT will ever allow the O on her side without harrassment? How long should I let this go before I move the GT back to the 55? In short, when to say when? Here is a picture of one of their "encounters". They just stare down and if one advances then the confrontation occurs.

i think if they aren't actually liplocking or doing damage they should be alright together, if they do start hurting each other I would move somebody.....great looking fish btw......

It's just trying to establish dominance over the other. Give it a bit and keep an eye on it just in case.

nice setup, i think they will be alright since that terrors a female

Give it a try.

At first my GT messed with my PBass all the time, now they act like they dont even know their in the same tank.

That JD is awesome!

Thanks. I will just keep an eye on it. So far, the GT isn't chasing the Oscar, but is not letting him on her side.
