i was thinking to open a youtube channel to show my animals. but besides that, i am also in need of money to arrange a healthy environment for my pets. i wanted to ask(if any of you is a youtuber) that when i can earn money and how much.

I have had a youtube chanel since 2013.
It is mostly for cichlid habitats in nature.
Never seen a dime, but I don't expect to, I believe this type content has a very limited audience.
Now if if you post cute cat or puppy videos, well..........
The most views on one of my habitat videos in a Cenote in Mexico, is just over 4700, most videos have under 100 views.

People earn a fortune from you tube, how they do it I have no clue, when you find out how.....I WANT TO KNOW!!

To post videos on the forum, which I do, you need to upload them to you tube first, so I inadvertently have a you tube account, with quite a few videos on there now. I've had several hundred views and people like them from time to time.

But no one's contacted me asking where they send the cheque too, lol.

You won’t make money, not even enough to buy a bottle of fish food. Don’t go into it with the idea of making money, you’ll fail miserably. Do it for the love of your animals and you may get a few subscribers.

What do you have in your fishroom that is so unique and interesting that it can't be seen in a hundred other places as well?

What have you learned from experience that might be useful info to share with other hobbyists to their advantage?

If the answer to both questions is "nothing"...and that's usually the answer for most YouTubers!..why would you think people will flock to watch your videos in sufficient numbers for you to start raking in money?

Want to show off to other people? YouTube is the ticket.

Need cash? Time for a job! :)

I've wondered how the money structure works too. As far as content goes if a nasty, raggedy dog takes a dump on someone's pillow that's 100,000 views and likes. YouTube ain't exactly a rational place when it comes to content response. You almost have to play into the irrational obsessions about the 'furries.'

I follow some of the dbz mangas and the authors always want patronage. Some get it, some don't. The more successful ones keep a healthy online supply of content. Others can't hang on because they don't produce much and annoy people by constantly asking for money. It's a wild place.

KG Tropicals does really well on YouTube. Maybe they have good advice. Fun husband and wife team.

If you can offer something really unique or are ultra educated in the hobby you might get enough audience for a bit of pocket money but i cant see it going much further than that.
There are heaps of aquarium channels and not many get huge viewing numbers and its such a niche hobby that the potential audience is very small.
Possibly get a sexy girl to wear a bikini and film her doing water changes for you and post that and you would do better than 99% of other aquarium channels.
