Hello,
I was wondering if you all use air stones or any kind of aeration in your tanks. I have two Marineland 350's for filtration for a 90g tank. Do fish need the extra oxygen? Does this have any positive effect on the fish's health, or would the filters suffice? Thanks in advance.

The filters should be enough, more airation doesn't hurt though. In your case, if you like bubbles... Then do bubbles!

corey from aquarium coop says every aquarium could use an airstone which i agree with. your probably fine on oxygen but theres bo reason not to improve it, and airstones can be great to get rid of deadspots in the aquarium. i put them under rock piles in my aquariums in the hopes it builds a good biological filter dealing with the feces that get trapped under the large rocks.

another thing anout letting feces build up under rocks with an airstone is that the bb is constantly building up instead of building up dying off and repeating the cycle with waterchanges which happens in my barebottom predator tanks.

I have 2 powerhead pumps for extra flow. And when lights are off. The powerheads are off and have an airstone on. Don't like the look of the bubbles. Looks very unnatural so it's only on at night when lights off

sounds like itd be unnecessary

Thanks for all the info everyone. Looks like it's 60/40 for bubbles or not lol. I'm tempted to do two small sponge filters in the back corners but they take up extra space. I would use air stones to power the filters. But as Rocksor Rocksor says the filters I have provide enough oxygen for the tank. So it may not be necessary to use air stones and sponge filters on top of the filters I already have. I don't know if I want to spend $50 + on those accessories that I don't have if they are not needed.

I would spend the money and get one of these as a backup for power outages

DD batteries required

There's ones that can hook up to a USB portable battery or outlet with USB port
