I think he has a swim bladder disorder his body is curved in a "c" shape with the open end of the "c" facing down like an "n" i guess and he lays on the bottom.

I do 30% water changes twice a week. I noticed him doing this on tuesday night but he may have been doing it longer since I havnt been home.

I have tried adding epson salt to the water @ 2 large pinches per 5 gallons (said 2/8ths of a tps. online) I also tried feeding peas but he won't eat.

It seams that his tail is paralyzed or just hurts too much to move he tries to swim with the front half of his body.

So should I keep him alive or keep trying to save him or put him out of his misory?

If i were to put him down I have clove oil readily availibe to me how would i measure it. and is it the most humane i dont want him to suffer any more than he has too.

ps. i can't send a photo or check water paramters.

Thanks in advance.

thats a judgement call if its swim bladder and hes curled up it is probably too late to help him:(

I've seen goldfish recover from similar, but I dunno. It's your call.

And you can't really treat properly without being able to test water parameters. Usually pet stores will test for you if you ask. Just make sure to watch them do it so you know what they're using and if they're doing it right.

It's your call. Fish (and all living creatures) have ways of telling you when they are done fighting. used clove oil to euthanize my goldfish a while back. He seemed to have had a stroke or something, and was mostly paralyzed and wasting away. I just put him in a half gallon container, with the clove oil. He just 'went to sleep '.

How much oil you use depends somewhat on the size of your fish. this might give you an idea of where to start if you do decide to euthanize.

Best of luck.

ok thanks guys i think im going to give it one last shot at trying to save him. I called a reputable lfs and they said i could try force feeding him peas. I'm going to feed him 6 and if hes not improving by morning i will just put him down.

Thanks again for the help everyone

Peas are fed as a laxative same with epsom salt , you should wait for a few days after feeding to make sure they empty thier bowels .( no feeding) . If he doesn't recover still then you are not left with much option.

I had a goldfish do the same thing. He bent in half. We called him "Bendy". He lived like that for a long time, like two years but finally died. The only difference is my fish would eat.

rt now I have a floater and a sinker in my ryukin tank, trying to fix em up , or I will put both down next week . They are not so bad, hoping for best .
damn saki hikari sinking pellets all the way and this.
