My gold opaline gourami had a nipped pectoral fin, and I treated the tank with melafix, and I hope it will fully recover. I haven't seen him eat much lately though, and I'm worried the tankmates are getting to the food before he is, or if he is even interested in eating.

I have an empty 10g, and a heater and a sponge filter available. Should I move him there, until he recovers? Also, I think that having it bare bottom would be okay. What else can I do to help him recover? Thanks.

Isolate it, feed it various foods you can provide and do plenty of water changes until fins heal. Provide some floating plants for refuge.

Good quality water and the fins should heal in no time.

A nipped fin doesnt require you to go beserk with fixing it. If you correctly maintain the tank and give him proper foods, then it should grow back naturall in under a week.
