I have done it many times, but never when it didnt need it. This tank is 2 years old and does no leak, however there are a ton of bubbles in 3 of the vertical joints. I have the tank empty and am switching to salt. Should I recaulk the verticals before i set it back up or go with the old saying "if it aint broke, dont fix it"

At least scrape and reseal the inner seal and see if you can push the bead into the corners to fill the bubbles. Sure, silicone doesn't bond to silicone, but the complete contact between new and old silicone can prove forbidding to water anyway. I've done three tanks this way without a leak ever showing up. That, and I'm still afraid to completely remove panels from tanks...

the caulk between the panels does have a few bubbles but the caulk that runs onto the tank sides has bubbles and looks bad too. I am not worried about the silicone between the panels as much. I just dont want to risk cutting out a vertical and causing a leak where the newer caulk and older caulk meets and the bottom corner.

when resealing, you gotta reseal it all. no sections. all. leave the caulk between the panels alone.

I have just redone the verticals before with no issues at all and just really loaded it up in the bottom corners. I am just not sure if the effort is worth it on a fairly new tank that doesnt leak.
