got 2 eheim 2026
and 1 ehem 2080

should i sell the 2 2026 and get a fx5?
im lacking in mechanical right now and see a lot of debris in the water.

would it make a huge difference in mechanical if i get the fx5 and replace the 2 2026?

or should i try to change the media in the 2026s to be better in mechanical?

can anyone compare the noise level of an fx5 to a eheim 2080? tank is in my bed room and i need it to be decently quiet.

or should i keep the eheims since they are know for reliability?

thanks!

:)

Honestly, Keep the 2026s. You will get better mechanical filtration especially fine particle filtration with the two you have versus 1 Fx5. The down side of the fx5 is its internal design is flawed when it comes to small particle filtration. Clogs up in a week or two. Sometimes less.

You will get roughly 200-250 GPH from your eheim which is roughly 400-500 GPH of filtration at 40 watts of power. Fx5 is 600 GPH lacking on fine filtration and consumes 50 watts.

You also have 2 filters, actually 3 which just means more redundancy. Sucks you have to clean 3 filters in stead of 1 or 2 though.

you may want to see if you can re-position or redirect your discharge and suction hoses for better debris pickup. Filter Floss/Filter Fiber in the canister filter I find works flawlessly for fine particle filtration and you can reuse it. dirtry job cleaning it but if thats what you are after it would work.

thanks for the info!

Jgray pretty much hit the nail on the head.

Id personally stay with ur Eheim's instead of picking up one FX5.

While the FX5 is a great canister filter they do tend to sometimes clog and it does have a slightly hard time picking up smaller pieces/particles of debris.

So for right now i say stay with the Eheim's, there great filters to begin with.
