I would set one up and try and get him settled in where he's not so shy. Then after a couple weeks or whenever you think it's ready put him back in the big boy tank. And if he's still shy out him back in the grow out and try to find some fish that will compete with him but won't everything. Just something to stir up the movement which will happen when the big boys feed.I noticed my 6" ornate not getting a lot of food in the big boys tank. It has been about 3 months in the big boys tank and still very shy. Should I setup a grow out and move him? Opinions please.....
i was thinking the same thing about the 2nd 40. Problem is the Orino strike fast for food and I am not sure if the two 3" plecos will suck his slime when the lights are off. I was think mayb I should just leave him with the big boys since he is able to hang in there without being eaten. Its sort of like don't fix something that ain't brokenI would suggest putting him in the second 40 gallon with the sunset pleco. A 6" ornate can easily take down a smaller 2 inch fish. While he might not have any aggression towards or eat the smaller fish I wouldn't suggest you take the chance
there is no weight loss and the weight gain is minimal. I guess I am just want to see it grow faster and am loosing patience.I think leaving him in the tank with the big boys would be the best option. Having the plecos suck his slime coat off wouldn't end well. Unless you start to see health issues or weight loss in the big tank I wouldn't move him around
