I'm buying a Used tank 125 gal or 100 gal. What ever I find that's a good price. So I found a 125 gal glass with a really nice stand for $200. I found an acrylic 100 gal with some filters and light but no stand $200. I found one a month ago that was a 125 acrylic with stand for $200.

I really want acyrlic because it's lighter, easy to fix, hard to crack so good for moving. Glass is easy to find and cheap.

I want to have this tank set up next month. Would you wait for you dream tank or would you go for the really nice tank that's almost what you want??

The tank is for good size south American cichlids and small cats.

Why glass over acrylic?

glass:
hard to scratch
if you get algea its easy to clean then acrylic ( acrylic will scratch WAY to easy if you try to get the algea off )
dont have to worry bout any plecos or catfish chewing through the glass

acrylic:
scratches WAY to easy
plecos and catfish can chew through the acrylic easly
expensive
harder to care for (imo)

will not chew a hole but it can do some seriuos damage. seen it on my friends tank. I have acrylic but preferr glass.

I have a glass 55g and an acrylic 2g.
glass
pros: difficult to scratch
easier to clean
cheaper than acrylic

cons:
can crack
heavy
seams
silicone
resealing

acrylic:
pros:
very light
looks great
will not crack
seamless
no silicone

Cons:
Very easy to scratch
expensive
very hard to clean

I like glass on smaller tanks and acrylic on large tanks.

my preference, if its a smaller tank, like < 135, id say go with whatever good deal you find. but once you start messing with bigger tanks, youll be glad you went with acrylic.

i have a 405g acrylic that i could pretty much move around by myself if i really needed to. good luck even budging a tank that size that was glass :) when going with monster tanks, the weight savings of acrylic is reason enough to forget about glass

I'm goig to check out a 125 gal glass tank tomarrow. I was leaning toward acrylic because IMO it would last longer, when we move it will not be as big of a pain, and easy to fix.

But I found a good deal on a nice glass tank. Thanks for the replys.
