So I was hanging out with one of my lawyer friends and happen to open a book he had on Naural Resource Law. I came across the term "endangered species" which was defined,

any species which is in danger of extinction throughout all or significant portion of its range other than a species of the class Insecta determined by the Secretary to consitute a pest whose protection under the provisions of this chapter would present an overwhelming and overriding risk to man.

I guess insects that are "pests" are allowed to go extinct?

:swear: :WTF: :OMG: :bs: :yuck: :thumbsdow :nilly:  :(

Any thoughts?

I think it would be impossible to "extinct" an insect, because any measure that might have the "power"to complete such a task i.e nuclear bomb, would kill people first. Plus insects have literally been around since the beginning of time so i don't think they will ever be extinct. JMO

even unwanted pests have a place and i belive if you lose one it will have a knock on affected

i disagree. some species of insect are extremely vulnerable and at risk of extinction. few of the insects we call "pests" tho are endanger tho, if thats wat u meant.

i think that they should have rights. it sounds strange, but i feel bad when ever i see someone stomp on a bug, and i sometimes end up swearing at them:D

Disagree...

Example being that some insects that were here 500 years ago are no longer here.:( We are talking about specific insects here not insects in general as a whole.

I think they should have rights....

BTW I don't kill a roach if I find one in my home.

eh? insect species are being wiped out all the time. I think they are harder to regulate for conservation etc in general though.
