Should sand go in my freshwater tank's.

I have a Alligator Gar,Wolf Fish,Common Pleco,and a Polypterus currently in a tank together,another tank I have is a tank with a featherfin catfish and a lima shovelnose catfish as well as a bala shark and a spiny eel..can either of these tanks have sand in it or will my fish kick it up and possibly burn out my filter..also if you can recommend a best sand that'd be great!

Pool filter sand would be ideal for you. It's cheap, looks good, and is heavy enough that it won't float around and get sucked into your intake tube when your stock is playing in it.
