I have two clown loaches right now that are in a 37g. I have a 55g that is stocked and has been running for almost 4 months now. No water issues or anything.

I will be upgrading in the near future to a 150g most likely.

Basically what I want to know is if they would be compatible with the larger fish

What's in my 55g right now:
gold severums (4-5-1/2")
2 EBJDs (3")
gibby pleco (10")
bgk (5")

Could it worK?

I don't know how the EBJDs would act towards them. You didn't mention how big the loaches are. I have clowns with a BGK, ABK, red sev, many plecs, among other fish, but nothing aggressive and they are great.

That's right...sorry! It helps to know they, huh?

My two loaches are 6" and 3" or so.

The EBJDs are usually less aggressive than the regular JDs. All the tankmates get along great. If you think it would be safe for the loaches, I might move them tonight.

I've had a regular JD, and he could be a grouch, BUT, sitting here thinking about it, I realized that I had a clown pleco, (only 2.5 inches) and a couple BN plecos that he never bothered, and they aren't the fastest swimmers so I would think based on their sizes you should be ok. Make sure that they have plenty of hiding spaces just in case they need to make a break for it. When you do upgrade though, I would add more clowns. They love to school together and come out a lot more when they have their shoal. I have about 50 of them, and it is very true, the more the merrier. :)

I definitely plan on getting more later on. I'll keep those in my growout tank until they get to a decent size. I have tons of driftwood and plants in my 55g. Plenty of space. Even my BGK is perfectly happy and I didn't have to do anything special for it! I guess I'll start moving them tonight.... or this week.

I'll definitely do that. I think they would look so nice in the bigger tank. Maybe they're going to grow faster now, too! One could only hope!

They are pretty slow growers honestly. My initial batch of 5 that I got about 2 years ago were about 1.5 inches when I got them. Now they are about 4-5 inches, and thick. I've aquired the rest either from people getting rid of their tanks and had one or two and my biggest is about 7 inches, and a fatty too. In one of my tanks I "breed" the bad snails, (ok they just multiply lol) but no one eats them, so on the days I want to feed the loaches a protien rich food, I toss in a zuccinni the night before and the next morning they are covering the walls. I scoop them out and toss them in the loach tank and soon they are munching away. Keep a watch for your two in the new tank that they are getting enough to eat now that the bigger fish are competing as well.
