Well, I made my wife cry this morning. Actually, one of her oscars made her cry. More accurately, the fact that my new gold saum gt was in the mouth of her oscar made her cry.

Due to some "domestic issues" we moved one of her oscars to a 55 grow out where we are currently bulking up a couple cichlids, gt, midas. The oscar, not large, only about 4 inches, took to the tank quite well and quickly established himself as the tank boss. Well one day, I stopped at the local cooperate powerhouse and fell in love with a little gt. Brightly colored and already sporting the start of a hump I politely aske my beautiful young wife if I could bring it home.
"We don't have the room," she says.
"I can find a spot for it." Honestly, how can a fish keeper not have room for a nice looking 1.5 inch gt.
"where?"
"I'll toss it in the 55 and we'll figure it out when he gets bigger."
"No, the oscar will eat it."
"It hasn't eaten anything else in there... it will be ok."
"ok, if you really want it...."

Well long story short, couple days of peace and I wake up this morning with her oscar sporting a nice orange-trimmed tail out of its mouth. Crap.

Wife is not happy, I heard a couple "told ya so"s.
She says that she is not so upset about the fish, but about the fact that I wanted it so bad, and her fish ate it. Gotta love her.
So I assured her that we would look around for a replacement gt to "fill the empty place in my heart."

Anyway, moral of the story... well not sure, but it might have something to do with listening to the one that makes your meals.

i know it is a sad situation but i loved the way you write with the little humor attached to it.. a very cute, sad, sweet, story... get a big GT next time...and definitly listen to your other half.. :D:D:D

Lesson of the Day: Wives are always right. :D Nicely written btw.

Sorry bout your little guy though :(

sorry for your loss....ive actually had a gt beat up my oscar and the oscar was slighly bigger than the gt so i guess it all depends on your fish
