My 7" Lima doesn't seem to know what he is. He only accepts small food like frozen bloodworms. Is there any way to encourage him to accept large food that the rest of the tank is on, I mean he won't even eat feeder minnows (these are only a treat)
A healthy fish will not refuse food when it is hungry under normal circumstances... if a suitable substitute is offered, it should eat. Obviously, you probably can't get your TSN to eat fruit loops this way, but if you offer something that resembles it's "normal" diet it should eat, eventually.
Ive never hada problem with one being picky. I have more of a problem trying to prevent them from eating everything. I had my buddies 6in Tiger in my 75 temporarily with a few 3-4 inch oscars because his red tail was growing too fast. The rtc was starting to give the tiger that look that you know means hes thinking of eating it. the tiger seems to have aquired a taste for albino tiger oscar now and i had to separate them. I wont make the mistake of thinking "Well, i dont think it can fit in his mouth so they will be fine." again.
