Shovelnose ID

I would pick it up if you've got the means to keep it for a while...I wouldn't mind finding something rare like that every once in a while, my lfs have less catfish than the average petsmart:(

I think it could be Hemisorubim platyrhynchos http://www.planetcatfish.com/catelog/species.php?species_id=755 very stressed, hence pale.

If it is, it must be a super rare find. I have never seen one live.

Another possibility is Platysilurus mucosus http://www.planetcatfish.com/catelog/species.php?species_id=1641 I had a pair of these but very rare too.

No underbite on mucosus. It has an overbite. Fish he has pictured the lower jaw extends under the upper jaw. That's why I say H. platyrhynchos. I also thought of this one http://www.planetcatfish.com/catelog/species.php?species_id=435 but ruled it out for the same reasons.

i have seen this fish for sale only extremely rarely in the last 10 years. Usually with a big price tag.

I tend to think you are right albeit I cannot clearly make out under- vs over-bite - the pic is fuzzy, little contrast, fish too pale, angles are far from optimal (not critisizing the OP at all - this is not a photo shoot- just stating the facts). Platyrynchos is my first guess too.

Thanks everyone! I've never seen anything like it, until now...

It does indeed have an underbite.

I would've picked it up but all of my tanks are broken down at the moment because I'm moving.
