So, I have been told about these bare bottom tanks, I'd love to see a few pics of people from the site's tanks... bare bottom setups... thanks a lot guys!

I dont think they look very good tbh. Its like keeping reptiles on newspaper. Yes its easy to clean and holds humitity quite well (although not as well as moss) but it doesnt look even 1/4 as good as a natural looking setup. Not sure if you wanted to hear it lol but thats just my opinion :D

Well, that's the way I actually think. I love the natural look. The low laying plants to cover the bottom (like grass looking stuff) with large rocks and stuff. I love Natural looking stuff. But a lot of people like the bare bottom. *shrugs* I think I might just stick to my setups:) But ya, I'd still love to see if people have nice setups for it.

All my tanks right now are bare bottom. I did this to save time on cleaning. When you have a family and a job, time is always a major concern. But I still prefer to have a graveled one with a nice setup of rocks and driftwoods. I just can't do it right now. Photo shows my tanks before and my tanks now. You can't compare.

Ya, I think I still prefer the sand look... maybe small gravel. Thanks for the pics! I think I have enough time to keep it looking good that I shouldn't have to worry too much.

It's honestly up to personal opinion but I highly dislike the look of barebottom. I much prefer sand. Again, just personal opinion.

I like gravel espicially with cichlids. Gives them something to do. Also I keep a fosso chromis rosturus who loves to sift through the gravel. Although I have seen some nice bare bottum tanks. To each his own.

2 barebottom tanks 5 gravel/substrated tanks. Think it really depends on stocking, ect. Barebottom is really nice for your messy fish. You can see that there is no extra food rotting, or build-up of waste ect. Never really thought about it.. but my barebottom tanks have more decor or hide spots in them then my gravel tanks. I was never a fan of barebottom tanks until I got my fire eels. I can keep a close eye on them by simply moveing a few peices of pvc, verse digging all over a sand-covered bottom. alot less to stir up. Would I go with sand or something more "showy" if the tank was in a liveing room or high trafic area where it would be more decorative verses practical? yeah I prolly would add those touches that cause me extra time.
