Ok one of my oscars i can get them to take about 2 market shrimp from me over the day. But he still looks starving.... O.o? i have all kind of other foods inside th e tank but he doesn't want them. Any idea? should i try night crawlers?

But he wont eat the pellets... ill just keep it all there for him... his gotta eat some time.

Sorry for the topic... i wanted to see a pic of a hungry thin oscar so i can make sure how they look... when they dont eat.

He looks skinny or is he just begging?

My 9" O will follow me when I walk by the tank, at the surface of the water, looking up. Just waiting for me to drop in some food. Regardless of when I fed him last. Yours just may be begging.

Mine has sort of neglected the pellets lately. He mostly eats the FD krill now. He'll eat a pellet, then realize what it is, and spit it out.

make him wait it out says I,he will eat the pellets.

His not begging... ... the area between his fin and lower fin is kinda skinny.... He will eat one or two Shrimp from my hand tho... but his not to into it... swims around it looks then takes it from me.

I agree with the previous poster. Make him wait it out. Keeping feeding him 'snack or other' foods will only serve to further spoil him. I know Pellets aren't what they eat in the 'wild' but they are super good for them. A HEALTHY oscar or any fish for that matter will not starve themselves to death.

That being said, what brand are you feeding? My O's only eat Hikiri Gold, Bio-Gold, and Staple. (I keep them mixed up in jars and just grab a pinch at a time) Has he previously eaten this brand of pellet? If he hasn't maybe you should try another brand. What are your tank stats? Ammonia? Nitrate? Nitrite? Sometimes a high tank reading will keep them from eating. Also, is the starving one being bullied? You did not mention what size tank these guys are in. What about signs of being unhealthy? IE: Stringy Poop or noticeable parasites/worms or injury.

We all know that CLEAN water will help any case. Maybe you should try doing a 50-75% water change and see if that helps any. Reguardless of what your tank readings are. :) Sometimes fresh water is just the kick that they need to start eating again.

You may have already answered these questions somewhere. Forgive me if you have and point me in their direction and I will be sure to read them :)
