I am trying to get ideas how to setup my corner overflow. If you got tips on where to drill on my overflow would be great? Is there a benefit to drill half way so it would not drain everything inside the overflow.

Drill on the bottom, you can always add a PVC pipe to what ever you want the water level to be, if half way is good then run the PVC up half way from the bulkhead and so on. Make sure you go as large as possible but consider the bulkhead thickness so you have room to fit the large bulkhead in that small space. Some people drill an incoming return line in the bottom of the overflow also.

Personally I like the largest drain possible, and just one hole. My return hole is drilled into the top of the tank as far away from the overflow as possible. That way clean filtered water doesn't go straight down the overflow and no syphon issues if/when my pump fails for some reason.

Thanks for the write up egon. What size bulkhead do u recommend? Is this the best setup for a quiet overflow?
