I see plenty of pictures of African cichlid tanks but most with large Americans are just substrate and open water, does anybody actually scape their tank? Looking for some inspiration here!

That's because most of the large American cichlids don't care much for decorations and will destroy real or fake plants and move around decorations to their liking.

Fake rocks and real ones, lots of driftwood (you can only see about half of it) and plenty of fake plants for my big guys to tear up
