This Oscar was acquired 5+ years ago as a ‘Blueberry’ Oscar. It was always a bit slower and a bit weaker than it’s “friends” bought at the same time/size. After 2~3 years he has pulled through just fine and appears healthy. It took 2~3 years of pristine water conditions and plenty of tank space to keep him alive and get him healthy. The only visual results are a couple of dark spots that look like bruising. I also expect him to die much younger than his “friends” as the dying process takes a toll on internal organs.

Thats sad...

Hey Nutcase...You probably don't remember me, but you helped me with my 55 gallon stockinglist on cichlid-forum. I really appreciated your help and patience.

The tank is doing great! A breeding pair of JDs, plus 2 bristlenosed plecos and 5 giant danios.

heres my oscar! my 4 babys are all dead now :( ill make do with just him. i rescued him from the local fish shop. i recently found out the old owners have asked about him alot, they said he was grumpy and liked to sulk when they had him, so its not just me he doesnt like!

Here's my red Oscar, "Bruno". I rescued him from a LFS about a month ago; he was quite beat up. He's since healed and grown from 10" to 11". He's now a big pig, and has an off-center jaw that gives him a permanent pout.
