show your best hybrid peacocks

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Um well any OB. IE my avatar. I also have a very nice Koningsi/Mbenji selected strain.

But all in all I try to keep true to the species. (Though I would guess that some of the albinos first were hybreds.)

Anyways you can get some nice looking fish, just don't ever try to sell/give away them as anything other then hybreds.

I have a tank full of female peacocks and only a few males and now one of my red aulonocara jacobfreibergi females is holding. I know that it will be a hybrid because I do not have any males and I was wondering if anyone had a hybrid that they absolutely loved. So lets see them!
I would like to sugget that you give up on your Malawi cichlids if you are to allow cross breeding.(sic):banhim: :banhim: :banher: :banher:
This is an absolut NO-NO. Set up another tank or two and get your Aulonocara seperated and buy some males where you don't have them.
DON'T LET THE CROSS BREED!!!:screwy:
:naughty:  :headbang2 :nilly:

I am not sure that attitude is really the best. You can ask them to not sell the fry off as something it is not, but you can not request them to kill their fish. I am not a fan of Hybrid fish myself, but do not force your opinion on others... Remember in the thread he asked to see your hybrids, not comment on what he should do with his fish... I hate when people jump into a thread and say things to stir the pot...

this is a touchy subject so I will try to just give my .02 Hybrids in SA/CA cichlids in my opinion is ok to an extent (example flowerhorns ect..) However in africans it is a very big NO NO!!!!! seems hypocritical I know but Africans are totally different and hybridizing them causes more problems than not. There are so many hybrids floating around in various lfs that come in in mixed african shipments and I have seen some really messed up fish. Also there are those low lives out there that accidently or intentionally cross breed them and sell the babies as pure bred.
Now if you never sale or even give them away and just let the fish eat the fry I say go at it, Who doesnt want free food. however when you have hundreds of small fish swimming around the temptation is there to try to make a buck.
I have a mixed african tank and sometimes there are fry and I dont move them and few days later they are all eaten. However all fish I intentionally breed have their own tanks in my garage and I even keep the fry seperate from each other.

Okay, okay.

Hybrids are bad, 'nough said.

Now does anyone have pictures of theirs? I know some people keep them just for show. A good buddy of mine has some that he was gonnna toss out but a person he knew wanted them for show only. I have seen them, they are quit nice, for a hybrid. They aren't entering mainstream so don't fret....
