My girlfriend has a blood parrot cichlid in my tank and she is the most dominate one in there(believe it or not!) with two smaller doviis. When I woke up this morning the blood parrot has a cut on her face and her tail seems to be shredded and it also looks like some scales are hanging on by a thread. Is this some type of fin and tail rot or are the doviis actually fighting back?! The two dovii are very submissive to her and I have yet to see them fight back. What's going on?

The doviis are rising up under the cover of darkness!!! That BP abhorration is a goner soon for sure!! Lets give it up for the parachromis rebellion!! Its only a matter of time..... Good luck...

What size tank do you have Giz? If a BP is dominating the two Doviis I would imagine they are juvies. They are gonna be big before too long.... And that BP will be a snack if he/she doesn't die of its current wounds.

well right now the male dovii is about 4 1/2 inches(he is also already forming a defined bump on his head) and the BP is about 5 inches. Currently they are in a 55 gallon tank and I have a 100+ on reserve for me when they get bigger.

If you want the BP to live move them now. Then, in a year you can move the Dovii to a bigger tank and not worry about the BP anymore.

100 gallons?? Do you really think a tank not even double the size of your 55 will house a pair of Dovii? You really need to reserve something a bit bigger than that like 180-240.

I said a 100+ meaning it will be suitable, comfortable, and spacious enough for the two dovii. I just don't understand how the BP is fighting back, they are actually pretty mean fish.
