Shredding Tilapia

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Hmmm I mean maybe if the tilapia was semi-frozen? If the blades aren't sharp enough it might just mash down the meat and cause it to tear or fragment off. I mean I guess it could be an experiment though :o

I like this thread... I've been trying to come up with more efficient ways to break down food, unfortunately I haven't had any success finding anything to cube fish. Food processor I'm afraid would mash it up too much, and tilapia is a pretty flakey fish anyway so you'd probably have a ton of pulp stuck to everything. Honestly, of all the fish I've cut up for my crew, tilapia is the easiest with a sharp knife. I went through a 1.5lbs bag of it in about 10 minutes. Catfish? Ugh don't even get me started on catfish

because of my nerve damage it took me almost an hour on 1 fillet
Oh yikes, sorry to hear that. I mean I know kitchen scissors can do a pretty decent job cutting through it, it's a little slower than a knife, but if you're able to use them it would probably make your life easier. Wonder if one of those slap-chop machines would work?

I still think the mezzaluna would be easiest for you

well I got a cheap food processor yesterday and it did a decent job of shredding the talapia and everything in the tank loved it.

also I tried posting a new thread about a new food I discovered but it wouldn't let start it here is what I was trying to post
