Anyone ever had a shrimp or two of some sort in a bowl with a betta before? If so, what type and how did it work out? If not, what kind would you suggest and how do you think it would work out?
Thanks

I have seen it work but you have to remember that Betta's are carnivorous. If they can, they will eat the shrimp.

My girlfriend kept ~10 cherry shrimp and male betta in a planted 15 litre/4 gallon aquarium for quite a while with no issues. The shrimp didn't breed but they were a bit too big for the betta to eat so he left them alone.

I bought 30 bucks worth of red cherry shrimp, put them in with my betta 48 hours later they were all gone. I wont do it again

yep or chase till they kill them. I lost 20 cherries because of this. all in 2 days

I bought my cherries off aquabid, from a seller named ark. he has really nice ones and is easy to deal with.

I had a heavily planted 5g with a betta and and 3 ghost shrimp. The shrimp were in the tank first, too. They lasted about a week. Maybe with a bigger breed of shrimp you might get lucky.

Personally i wouldn't risk it. Bettas are pretty aggressive. i couldn't even keep an algae eater in with mine.
