I have a couple of the old amano shrimp, and in the past couple of days the one has really darkened up and is really reddish/brown in the pigmented areas. Just wondered why this would be, as haven't seen this for as long as i've kept them. It doesn't sound much but it is very noticeable. Some pics taken with a flash (so washed the colour out a bit) First pic of another more normal coloured one.

Ok the pics show even less difference than i thought them did, but trust me, to the eye, they are very different!

All my shrimp change color from time to time, it's just how they are. I've seen my amanos blue, green, pink-red, off-yellow, and clear. The only time you need to worry is if they turn a milky opaque white. Then it's usally just a matter of time before they die.

Maybe it's a diet thing? I know when they die amanos turn orange/red.

Diet... you may be onto something there...
Cheers, ive had them years, never seen them change colour. Cool to know they will

I would agree diet is the cause, I have a common brown crayfish that killed and ate a blue crayfish and soon after that he molted. Next time I saw him in his new skin it had shades of blue all over it in various spots. So I would say that there is something that certain species, not just invertebrates because flamingos get thier pink color from eating red crayfish, will cause them to change colors.
