Hi,

Yesterday I noticed some shrimp eggs hanging from some moss. Ive heard 1st time mothers may drop their eggs, or if they are stressed they will drop their eggs. I dont think its stress, no predators and all shrimp are active and happy. Kinda disappointed the eggs were dropped. I have a few females that are saddled, and none of them were even carrying yet. So they must have been dropped right away during the night or whiel I was away. This also means the eggs wont hatch right? If one of the females dropped her eggs, when will she produce more? Do I gotta wait a month again or will she produce more sooner? Heres a pic of the eggs hanging on moss. Should I just leave it alone, or take it out?

I would leave them, they will get eaten most likely.
I have never had a shrimp drop eggs. What kind of shrimp, what is your pH? This is usually stress induced from what I have heard or from parameters not ideal for your species.

Yeah eggs have disappeared. I got cherry shrimp, my water for them is:

Temp: 79
Ammonia: 0
NitrIte: 0
NitrAte: 10
Hardness: Hard
PH: 7.8

In the pics they looked a little washed out because I have them over white sand. Kinda stupid I used white sand, but when they eat they redden up for a little. Only a few are really red, most are light red, or some are white with only little spots or lines of red. Its a 10 gallon tank and I estimate about 50 shrimp in there. I dont know if theres stress in the tank, the shrimp are very active, always swimming around and jumping back and forth, nibbling for food here and there. Perhaps, the female was shedding, and maybe she was nervous around other shrimp and dropped the eggs. I dont know.

Might not have been fertile. I have a saddled F RCS right now, hope she doesn't do this to me but I think all the M I have in the tank ATM are too small to mate.
Hope you have better luck w/the next batch

Well from what I know, if eggs are transfered to the tail they are for sure fertilized. The eggs are moved to the tail and they pass through the sperm. They dont go to the tail without this happening. But there could be accidents I suppose. Maybe a 1st time mother didnt do it right, or was stressed out. Ive only read that they drop them if they are a 1st time mother or stressed, but didnt think it would happen to me. Kinda disappointed but I got about 4-5 females saddled so I am happy about that.
