I am in the process of setting up a 29g planted tank, and I was toying with the idea of doing an Asian themed tank (rasboras, loaches, shrimp, maybe a dwarf gourami etc.). I was thinking about stocking some cherry shrimp, but I've read that loaches will eat the little guys. Are there any shrimp friendly loaches?

I like the yoyo's and the skunks, but I've heard that yoyo's get too big, and skunks are aggressive. That leaves kuhli's and dwarves (Yasuhikotakia sidthimunki). I like the look of the dwarves better but they're more expensive. What are my options here? Are there any shrimp friendly loaches that will also conduct snail patrols?

Any information would be much appreciated. Thanks.

my dojos and kuhlis never bother my ghost shrimp

Yes, your best bets are kuhlis and dojos. Horsefaced loaches and hillstream loaches also work but hillies are very demanding species preferring cool fast flowing waters. A river specialist tank is your best chance to keep hillies alive for a long time.

my kuhlis did okay with the cherry shrimp- never saw a big change in the cherry shrimp population
