Hi all,

Just wondering if putting glass ghost shrimp in to the sump would make a difference?

I got Media in the sump and i plan on putting shrimp there to eat any waste that gets through the wool at the upper areas.

Thoughts? and what difference would it make anyways?

My mate does it, but im curious if the shrimp can really remove all the gunk in the sump as well as waste.

In the advertisement for the media there's a shrimp on it so im assuming that's what it's for.

Seems like a good idea to me...I guess the problem would be if not ENOUGH gunk gets through and you wind up having to feed them?

I got enough gunk in there at the moment haha in the end there can only be on survivor - maybe they'll end up killing each other.

wouldnt hurt. they would eat some of the uneatten food. better than lettin it rot

ok i tried this and i started with about 30 shrimp and 5 rosies in the bottom of my sump to reduce the amount of junk in the bottom by the pump, and it worked wonders!!! they are all still alive and trust me there will be plenty to eat. I would recommend them to anyone (only if you can get them cheap though) my LFS has them for .75 a piece, but another store gets them once in a blue moon for .10 each and i always buy their whole stock. they have been working wonders for me for almost a year

I keep cherry shrimp in the planted fuge section of one of our sumps. Little buggers are good at math and love to multiply. They make a pretty good clean up crew.

Every day or so a few make it to the DT and the fish wait by the returns for their treats.
