hey guys,
i've got a few red fire shrimps (neocaridina heteropoda) and the smallest of them is lying on his back and struggling with his legs
i put him into a quarantine cup (yeah i know, not ideal but setting up a 15l quarantine tank would be ridiculous for this 0,5cm guy) for now and put some sera aquatan in there & the tank in case there is any poisonous stuff in the water
the other shrimps seem to be fine...last thing i did yesterday was add some java moss (with 2 snails) & a cabomba...the java moss was given to me by the lfs for free out of one of their own tanks and the cabomba was standing in a pool with a powerhead for the last few weeks, plus i thoroughly rinsed it
so i don't think i brought any copper/pesticides into the tank with it...
help plz :nilly:

doing a 40% water change right now, other shrimps seemed a bit sluggish at first but i just saw one swimming so i hope they're gonna be alright
poor lil guy is still on his back struggling :(
i know he's just a brainless shrimp but it's killing me to see him like that...i wonder if he has parasites...some disease..or maybe an injury?

Its unlikely he has a parasite. Can you see anything visibly wrong with him? How big is it? How long have you had them? What are your parameters?

The only surefire way to know if your tank has copper or not is getting a copper test kit to test for traces.

I know how you feel when no one seems to be able to answer questions. This is a big forum but this subforum gets very little traffic or just not much knowledge in this field.

I have never kept shrimps before but could it be it's trying to shed it's old exoskeleton?

This is why I requested Li last year to relocate it here. It was just near the bottom of the homepage before. We're picking more traffic but people have a habit to post their problems in specific subforums rather than here.lol

I am willing to help, but need my questions answered in order to get more information to help :)

you havnt put any treatment in the water in the last week or so have you ? i lost an apple snail to that , i put a fungus treatment in , removed the snail , after the required length of time my partner dropped the snail back in but didnt od a water change first ... ooops...ö dead snail. i know it affects shrimps too.
