Ok, so I just got back from Mrytle Beech and while I was there I did some deep sea fishing. When we started they trolled for the bait fish we would use while fishing. Also in the net was nearly 40lbs of shrimp. I was able to bring it back home with me. I can't eat it, so I would like to prep it for my rbp's

The questions are

How to I prep the shrimp? Leave the heads and tails on or remove them?
How to I package them so them will last?

I think this amount will last my 11 4"ers a little while

Thanks

take the heads off the shrimp, deshell the shrimp, wash the shrimp, then get a zipploc bag and freeze um'.

Just take the spike they have in the head (if they have it) and give them just like that. No need to take the shell off. Wash them properly and if you want, boiled them for 30 seconds, just to make them more thender.
To store them put them in the frezeer in a plastic bag or box.

i would just remove the heads and freeze them, when i freeze my shrimp from the seafood counter, i usually lay them all out on a cookie sheet covered with a sheet of wax paper and throw them in the freezer, that way the shrimp won't stick to the cookie sheet and they are all individually frozen instead of being frozen together in one massive clump, it makes it much easier to pull out a few when it comes time to feed your fish.

depending on if they have pincers or not?
i would normally just throw em in
they normally cant bite
but just to be safe just chop of theyre heads and feed... or freeze

Most of the nutrients is in the shell, from what I have been told. I dont see a problem cutting the heads off though. But the tail should be fine. I mean no one cuts select portions of shrimp in the wild...LOL....off with the head, the rest should be fine....;)
