OK, so I have 4 Ten Gallon tanks, two have been running for 4 1/2 weeks now, and the other two for a few months now. Just did a test on all of my tanks and the first two tanks have 0 ppm Ammonia, 0 pp, Nitrite, ~40-80 ppm of Nitrate, ph around 7.4 in one tank and 7.8 in the other. Are they ready for me to add shrimps? Im wanting to make these into shrimp tanks.

The other two tanks have been running for a few months now, Ammonia is 0 ppm, Nitrite is 0 ppm, and Nitrate is 5.0 ppm in both tanks. with a ph of 7.4. Are these two ready for shrimps? Kind of new to the hobby and was wanting to find some advice. Thanks in advance.

The concern is the high nitrate in your 2 tanks. Bring them down to minimum 5.0ppm or none to be safe.

How about the temperature, GH and KH?

Only one of the tanks has a heater on. The rest are at room temperature. How can I bring the Nitrate down? I have not measure the Gh or The KH as my test kit didnt come with anything to read that.

Water changes, 50% will cut your nitrates in half as long as the new water you add has no nitrates.

I'd do a water change every other day for about 4-6 days and also add some gravel from one of your fully cycled tanks. It sounds like the first two tanks you listed are at their final stages of cycling and either need more time to be ready or can be helped with a seed from another fully cycled tank. hth

Alright, thank you. I will continue doing the water changes for a few more days and then test the water in about a week in a half to see if it has helped. Its been more then a month and Im just wanting to add some shrimps to the tank already. Getting kind of desperate.

Definitely check your KH and GH levels as was stated earlier in the thread too. Mine were low (as was my PH) and I had cherry shrimp dying off a few every week. Added a little baking soda and all was well. My PH was only 6.3 at that point so this is probably a moot issue for you. With a PH over 7 I would assume the KH and GH levels would be within reason. Can't hurt to check though.

Let us know how everything turns out.
