I have an 3" baby Jardini for about 6-7 weeks now. He's currently solo in a 20 gal tank and will be moved to a 180 when he gets just a little bigger. He has a great appetite and is current eating pellets and krill. He's a hungry fella and grabs of the food within seconds.

However, this fella is pretty shy. He just hides near the top of the filter intake pipe (guess its a bit darker there due to the shadow). He rarely swims around the rest of the tank tho, unless I am dropping food in there. He'd snatch it and go back to that part of the aquarium.

Is there anything i can do to make him more comfy so that he can swim around the tank and not just relegate himself to one area?

Any sugguestions or tips would be appreciated. Thanks!

Just give him some time. He'll snap out of it:)

i agree.
its a little fella thats probably looks at itself a prey.
it will get bolder as it gets bigger

I agree too my silver was like that when he was small and now he is fine.

Thomas.

Thanks. That is good to know.

I have been leaving the light on for a few hours everday to get him use to it. - I also give him food when I turn on the light. Haha - I will attempt to employ the theories of Pavlov. I think it works. Now when i turn on the light he comes out for a bit.. then goes back to his 'safe' place.

Hi all Im new, this site rocks! I have a little arro about 3 inches. Hes tearing up feeder guppies and trying to jump out all ready. Mine loves the duckweed in the tank it really seems.

when mine was that size he tried to fight tank mates more than twice his size. he learned his lesson fast now just swims around and keeps to himself . i'm sure when he get bigger he'll get his revenge
