I recently purchased two 2" demasoni cichlids and a 2" and 1.5" mixed Mbuna. I put them in my quarantine tank where I keep two small chinese algae eaters. All of the cichlids in quarantine are really shy and huddle up in the corner and freak out if I turn on the light. I realize its stressfull to be transported in a bag and then dumped into a tank, but I am worried as they will not survive in my main tank acting the way they are. Do you guys think there is anything I can do to calm them down?

The water parameters were all good with exception to nitrites, they were slightly higher, but acceptable. I did a 40% water change to get them back down.

Nitrites should really be 0 so keep that in mind, it maybe affecting their behavior. If you haven't had them very long they may be still adjusting. Once in the main tank they will see all the other fish out and about and will feel more comfortable. Demasoni are nasty little fish so they will be fine :)

I dropped the demasonis into my main tank and they assimilated very well. Thanks for the help.
