shy pbass

i have 3 mono pbass in my tank right now. whenever i walk by the tank, they hide. is there a way to stop this? i heard putting another fish (differant kind of fish) in the tank will keep them active but i only want pbass in the tank

How big are they. I have two that are about 4" and they are getting better as they get older. They always stayed in the corner and scattered when I walked by but now they come out to the front of the tank and aren't so jumpy. If they are little then I think they will get better with age!

even my 3-4 inchers come to me, lol they even come to my cats, spend more time feeding them, cut up some krill or whatever you feed them, but feed them slowly, 1 peice at a time, until they hit anything that touches the water, and associate you with the food, then you will have full fledged attention whores

A couple peaceful fish like silver dollars that are active and move around alot help them see that its ok to be out in the open and moving around, and that nothing is gonna get them. Their instinct is to hide cuz they know in the wild they could be a snack at any moment. As they get bigger their confidence will grow and they wont be skittish anymore.

they are about 4 inches right now. i just got them. they have only been in the tank for about 4 maybe 5 days now

And you just got the bass, so, give them time to settle in first. But, as venom SS stated, dithers and target fish are good to bring them out and about.

i think they will learn to associate food with you pretty soon. also, dont make quick sudden movements toward the tank. move slowly toward the tank, that way they dont feel they are under attack. plus is the tank in a high traffic area? if it is that will help with their confidence too

Don't get a Tiger shovelnose until the pbass are atleast 8" so you can keep them together a little longer. I bought a big cat and put them in with 4 pbass and learned my lesson, I still have the catfish and he's with a big tem in a different tank than my smaller pbass haha.
