Over the rainbow
I've had this wolf fish for about two months now. My last one, before it jumped out of the tank, it took about 3 weeks before it was comfortable enough to feed in front of me and come out into the open. The new one is very small only about 4' but i dont understand why he's show shy. I've had my doubts if hes even eating but the gold fish are going missing so im assuming he is. Anyways does anyone have a technique they use to get my wolf fish to be not as shy? I've been thinking of removing all the hiding places in the tank, but i wanted ask people on monsterfishkeepers beofre doing so. thanks =]

I've had my wolf fish for almost a year now and he still won't eat in front of me. He did when I first got him but now he doesn't. I think it's more about each wolf's personality is different.

Since wolves are nocturnal I wouldn't expect too much out of him during the day.

Also, I'm assuming it's a mala?

Brutus eats in front of me, he comes to the top of the tank and begs for his dinner.. he eats the first two pieces while i'm watching and then saves the other 3 for later.

But Brutus is about 10" or more now and he bites fingers if you're not careful.. as my son found out.. lol.

Assuming he's 4" and not 4', I would say as he gets bigger he may come out of his shell a lil. Make sure his water quality is good too, I think it affects their behavior.

yo mud the reason that it doesn't eat in front of u is b/c personality? i thought it was because:
1. It did not get used to the tank; i got mine 3 months and still shy, maybe takes 2 to 3 years in order to eat in front of u.
2. Mine around 8". As a mala wolf, it is still a juvenile. If its a H. Micro at that size, it would probably adjust to its environment faster. I think when all malas reach size of 10" it will bite fingers.
I am just saying what i think because what i've heard so far, malas around 8 inches are all shy and totally different than the wolves i saw from youtube.

tvb can u also include how big was ur last wolf? if its around than 8" then its probably shy due to personality.
