Has anyone ever had ghost shrimp gnaw on (or in any way damage) the delicate fins of a male siamese fighter? Just wondering because I would like to pick some up for my betta tank, but not if they're going to chew on him. I already had a problem with white cloud minnows doing that, his tail is healing from his injuries.
Thanks

There's a possibility that the Betta will eat the Ghost Shrimp. I've actually kept a couple of Ghost Shrimp with a Male Betta before in a 2.5g tank. No problems, but there are members here who have had their Bettas eat the Ghost Shrimp.

I'm not worried if he eats the shrimp, I'm concerned if the shrimp will attack his fins. I hear some stories on the net about possible shrimp attacks on bettas although some cases were actually other types of shrimp. But some said it really was ghost shrimp. I'm kind of hesitant.

I've seen different looking Ghost Shrimp at a lfs. There are more than one species of shrimp labeled as "Ghost Shrimp" Unless there are pictures, we can't really ID which type. I'm not an invert expert, but there are a few people here that would be better to help ID shrimp. I've seen Ghost Shrimp with long arms which suggest to me that they may be baby Prawns, but if they truly are a Dwarf Shrimp species, I have no clue what those would be.

It's mostly just unconfirmed forum posts around the net and no one has pics. Yeah the baby prawns are almost always the culprit when some people DO manage to ID the inverts they have bought. The few claims that it was true ghost shrimp are kinda scary but at the same time none of the mods or long term members on either this site or others ever claim their REAL ghost shrimp attacked their betta.

Curious, what do others think? Prawns are well known to attack bettas but what about true ghost shrimp? Anyone ever had it happen?
