i have view some pics due to the fact it states Dragons and tigers, i was expecting arowanas and atfs, instead its siamese tigers, isnt atfs with real killing teeths a tiger? siamese tiger does have stripes and has dull gold colour that look like a real tiger, well my votes is for atfs... any comments?:)

Not sure what your trying to get at, but they are just common names, ST have more a colour resembalance than ATF, while ATF have much more of a comparable teeth structure.
What's in a name?

Well as far as patterning goes and colour, then a dat is closer to a tiger than any other fish, including an ATF.

ATFs look nothing like tigers, they just have big teeth.

It's just the names people give them, I've seen wolf fish called tiger fish too.

me too

wolf fish called tiger fish, man thats so untrue.. well i feel atf feeding habits fit a tiger title, i have seen dats feed , it just sucks it food down, true, looks are everything these days... hmmm maybe a dats with atfs tooth?

african tiger fish and siamese tiger are only common names given to sell the fish. Kinda like a marketing point. Common names dont reawlly mean much they could be called timbuktoo. its the scientific name that counts. I've seen red snakeheads named as 'fire fish' ,'indian fish' dragon fish and a bunch of random stuff

actually, you are wrong on both of these. Both these fish were known by these common names long before they were being sold here for the hobby.

I could not give you the history of the name of the ATF, but I can tell you for certain that the common english name of calling a Widebar Dat a "Siamese Tiger" or a "tiger" is a translation of the common Thai name for the fish, which has been around for centuries. It was not created for any marketing purposes.
