Siamese tiger fish confusion

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
That diagram says six stripe and seven stripe, that is all it says. It does not say Cambodian or Thai. I have seen that diagram a long time ago.

In the past, I have had ST from both Thailand and Cambodia. Unfortunately there are none left.

All the reports of breeding came to nothing.

Theres been news going around that theres a $12.8k datnoid pulcher in thailand (https://www.sanook.com/news/8789102/) and I'm starting to get confused about what is a true datnoid pulcher and what's not. Any pointers on identification? I have a certin idea but i want many peoples opinion on this.
That $12.8k price tag is wild, but I can see why it makes the identification question even more interesting. With Datnioides pulcher, I’d pay close attention to the banding pattern, body shape, coloration, and especially how those traits develop as the fish matures. Juveniles can be seriously misleading. What’s your current theory on the key giveaway?

For me the stripes should taper like a shark tooth. But for other species it will stay pretty consistant in side from top to about mid section. The photos that i uploaded are from fish from an old retired thai officer and said he got these as a gift decades ago. So im assuming their Thailand ST. The person told me that Thai ST have 7 stripes but i think its more merit than actual fact. But then again they supposedly went extict. Just trying to figure out if i should buy this pair for future breeding.
