These really aren't compatible with bichirs. They have nasty attitudes and will suck on the bichirs slime coat harming them.

Either that, or the bichir will eat them.
 
Cohazard, you're confusing the Chinese algae eaters with the SAE (Crossocheilus siamensis). SAEs are not nasty but they cannot be mixed with bichirs. The bichirs will simply eat them right away.
 
oops, you're right I was thinking CAE, and you're also right that the polys would eat them without hesitation.

I think if the poly is the same size or smaller it's ok, but when the poly gets big enough to eat the SAE... good bye SAE.
