As in safer then say a sterlet.

They seem to have far less "barbs", less heavily armored in general. Less like a Irwini or a Niger catfish basically. I've heard stories about certain sturgeon badly cutting people and disemboweling large Koi by accident when flipping out.

Siberian's seem to be more streamlined with far less protective armor.

Thoughts?

I think some one has told you a tale of male bovine excrement, the plates or scutes are not for that purpose and I would be amazed if any sturgeon has ever done such a thing under any reasonable circumstances. maybe if they were scooped up in a net together a fish could be injured, maybe loose some scales but disemboweling... no not likely at all....
