I have this silver arowana that's about 4-6 inch in my 55 gal tank, lately he's been swimming and laying at the bottom and his up fins drop, there not sticking up, im also treading ick in my tank also. I feel that he is sick can anybody help me?

What are water parameters of the tank, ammonia, nitrite, ph, temperature?
How long have you had him, how long has the tank been set up?
What is you waterchange volume and schedule?
What tankmates are with the aro?
Is it eating, if so what and how much?

The ammonia level is 0, nitrate is 20, nitrite is 3.0, hardness (GH) 75 soft, alkalinity (kh) 120-180, PH 7.8- 8.4. Lately I've been seeing the arowana twitch and he didn't eat at all today and he's been running into the glass. I feed him a variety of food, cricket, pellets, blood worm, and worms. I change about 25- 30% of the water. Today I did a 65% water change. I change my water once a week. I did had 4 small silver dollar and a small albino oscar. Know I only have the oscar. The silver dollar got ick so I separated them. The aro is find. I feed him about twice a day, three cricket and if not just pellets.

whats the temp at? make sure u set it to about 82 degree f. do only 40% waterchanges 65 is too much. if u feed crickets be sure they are only half inch at most til the aro gets to a foot. goodluck

What kind of twitching? Scratching himself against something in the tank? I'd monitor the water of the next few days, turn the temp up to at LEAST 82.

65% water change is way too much. Stick with around 1/3 of the water. More than that causes more damage than good.

The "twitching" is probably caused by the ich. Make sure when you are treating for ich to raise the temperature to 86F to speed up life cycle of ich and also to add 3lbs/100G (little by little over hours) to get rid of ich faster.

I look at the arowana closer today and it looks like he does have ick shoot! So I probably have to get a better heater for the tank to increase the temp over 80 so that will help kill off ick faster. The temp was at 78 degree's. Is it good to leave the light on the tank all the time or better off? I think him having ick was causing him to run in to the glass and sitting at the bottom most of the time.
