My beaded dragon I recieved a couple months ago from a friend, just yesterday started acting sick. He is inactive and does not move much compared to his normal habits. When I used to pick him up he would always be scrambling to run around my room, now I put him down in the room and he doesnt move much. He also does not keep his eyes fully open as usual, they are a little more closed than their wide eyed appearance. His appetite is also not what it used to be. I usually put in a lil cup of chopped veggies and he would run over to it, now he slowly picks at it. This lizard's age is unkown, but it is atleast well over 4 years, my friends says its close to 6 if not 6 years old. As mentioned, thisjust began yesterday so if I can treat it I hope to catch it now, I would say its old age but it came about so sudden. Their has been no changes in his feeding or tank fixtures. The only thing different is I did a gravel change to a new kind of gravel about a week ago. It just looks like he is drained of power, like he is tired, always slouching moving slow. The temp is normal, with a basking light, in gravel and a rock, as well as cool sand, and a heating pad in another corner. There is also the log she loves to climb and perch at, but now it looks like she can barely keep herslef up on it. The last few months have been heaven compared to what it was with my friend, he tooks good care of it but just didn't give it that much attention, so I know it has been very happy with me, and that is why I would hate to see it go. I know of no vets now that take lizards but tomorrow I am going to start calling around.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

def go see a herp vet. they can really help.

Go see a good herp vet.
Where are you located?
You can call your state's local Veterinary medical association for listings.

It sounds like it may be an impaction. I have seen this happen from both substrate, and food. The most common food impaction in beardies seems to be king worms. I have seen a few die from this.

That being said it could be anything, get a good vet.

GOOD LUCK

It is not old age, beardies will live to be at least 15 to 20 years old if well cared for. Does his jaw or any of his other bones seem to be soft or weak? And does it have any kinks in its tail or spine?
