My betta is sick. I'm not sure if it is velvet or ich. What's the difference? How do it treat it? I'm making daily partial water changes in case it's because of bad water quality. It's in about 15 liters of water. Another little question: Can methylene blue be purple?? I had checked a couple of pharmacies but all methylene blue i'm getting is purple. Only aquarium medecines are blue(and more expensive). Is that normal? Thanks :)

Check this for ich and velvet information.

15 liters is 5 gallons for those who wants it converted in gallon. I've never observed methylene blue to turn purple but it can look like purple as a powder form. If you are treating for ich, use salt and heat. The advice can be found in the link above. What symptoms did you observe? Don't treat yet unless you are sure of what you are trying to treat.

Thanks Lupin. I haven't started treating it yet. I'm doing partial water changes til I get to know which disease it it. I'm not sure. I think I it white spot. From what i've read, velvet is like some golden cloud or something like that. I'm still reading the disease's thread.

I guess its white spot. I'll treat it with salt. Have you ever used Indian almond leaves??

if its ich.. its very easy to treat.. just do daily water change...

I actually had a betta male who had some ich water on accident.. anyways.. i put some medication in his bowl.. and 2 days later he was fine..

so.. just need to watch out for it early..
