Hi all

We have had our BP, Karen, for about 7 years. I know in the past, when stressed she has lost her colour (I say she because she has laid eggs in the past).

However, yesterday, when I turned the tank light on, she was extra pale and constantly hiding. Nothing has changed, except I had to dispose of a few plastic plants. I just did a water change Friday as usual. Parameters are in good standing, ammonia and nitrites are 0, nitrates around 10.

I attach a photo of what she looks like at the moment. Appreciate any help.

My BP's are always lighter colored when the lights come on in the morning. They also hate any changes I make, but are fine by the time I feed in the afternoon. Unless theres more than the washed out color I wouldnt be alarmed. I've saw mine change a lot of different shades of orange

Any other fish in the tank to stress her out?

There are other fish, a few severums and rainbow bosemani fish. They have been with her for years, so there is no new fish.

This started yesterday morning (water change was Friday, and Saturday was fine), and is still continuing today. Her regular orange colour has not yet returned.

Parrots can change color just because. My female parrots always went pale before laying eggs and up to a week after. One would go from orange to piebald/creamsicle! I suspect its hormones. The other one would almost go white. One of my male parrots will get a white beard or go pink on one side for no reason I know of. Then he turns back eventually.
Mood, stress, hormones, temperature, tankmates, substrate-background color. Could be any, some, or none of the reason. Below 78ish they will get pale, too. If she's eating and swimming ok I wouldn't worry about it. Could be one of the plastic plants you got rid of was her favorite and she's not liking it.

Congrats on having her 7 years.
