I know I know, blood parrots are not only dorky, they are also creepy mutants. I adopted him as a pup about 2 years ago and he may be ugly, but he has an awesome attitude. He definitely has the midas mindset.

The reason I have started this thread is he is not feeling so well. His color is dim, he has a tiny bit of white fungus on his upper lip, and his right nostril is swollen and it seems to have something in it. Are there any parasites that spend time in the nose?

He started eating again tonight, but only because I went out and bought him a little lady hoping she would encourage him to start again. That worked, so that's a good thing. Any ideas, fellow fish keepers?

I just noticed the fungus yesterday as it is a very small spot, but it is smaller today then yesterday. I'm hoping tomorrow it will be gone or close to it. I believe it came about after a scuffle with a tank mate. I don't have the luxury of a hospital tank at the moment and I would prefer not to medicate all 75 gallons. He lives with a couple of sun cats, which I believe are considered scaleless, so they are not big fans of being medicated.

That's a tough situation, but since it is an injury maybe it is damaged flesh, but not necessarily fungus? What meds do you have on hand by the way?

It could be a scuffed up face. lets see some pics.

I have meds of all kinds on hand. I'm usually prepared for situations like this one but a couple months ago when things were tight i sold off my spare tank which was also my hospital.

Overnight the fuzziness has shrunken and he has colored back up nicely. He seems to be just about back to normal. I attempted to get a good photo but it's near impossible to get him to sit still. Like I said, that midas mentality. When ever I get near his tank he attempts to kill me.

Hmm yea, now he seems ok. Now, my problem seems to be with him getting along with his new tank mate. I thought that with his personality he would hang with her and leave her be, but she is not so comfortable at the moment. She is much much smaller than him, so she hides in corners, and behind whatever she can get behind or under. I've seen him charge her a couple of times, but with his messed up mouth, he is not so capable of hurting her physically. He could stress her to death though.. I am hoping she grows some balls, so to speak.
